On January 8, 2018, Founder and Chairman of Africa Initiative for Governance (AIG), Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, along with other AIG Board members, AIG Panel of Advisors and Management, visited and engaged the six inaugural recipients of the AIG Scholarships at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. The visit served as a forum for the AIG Board and Panel of Advisors to interact with the AIG Scholars and to further convey to them the ethos of the AIG Scholarships and the meaning of Leadership.

The AIG Scholarships are awarded yearly to outstanding West Africans from all backgrounds, who are passionate about the public sector, to pursue the Master of Public Policy degree at the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford.

In August 2017, AIG announced the award of the inaugural AIG Scholarships to six young and talented West Africans – Emokiniovo Akpughe (Nigeria), Efosa Trevor Edobor (Nigeria), Abdul-Fatawu Z. Hakeem (Ghana), Chukwunonso Iheoma (Nigeria), Oluwapelumi Simpson (Nigeria) and Emmanuel Taiwo (Nigeria).

Upon graduation, AIG Scholars are expected to return to their home country and apply their learning experience as change agents in their country’s public sector.
