Retired international footballer and former member of the senior national football team, Nwankwo Kanu recently paid a visit to the office of Pastor Ituah Ighodalo at Ikoyi, Lagos. Africa’s most decorated football player, Kanu who now runs The Kanu Heart Foundation was honoured in 2016 with the philanthropy award of the annual Honour Nigeria awards organised by Trinity House, of which Pastor Ituah Ighodalo is the senior pastor and convener. The awards are part of activities to commemorate Nigeria’s independence anniversary celebrations in Trinity House church and is a day set aside to honour outstanding Nigerians of high integrity who have exemplified themselves in different areas of life. The objective of the awards ceremony is to recognise those who have contributed to Nigeria’s national development and acknowledge them as role models for present and future generations.

The Kanu Heart Foundation aims to help save underprivileged African children by offering cardiovascular procedures. As founder of KHF, Kanu is determined to see that five KHF hospitals are built in Africa to ease the problem of undetected heart disease and corrective surgery. Kanu is also a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador who works to help children in all circumstances including assisting homeless children.  

Kanu was unavailable during the period of the awards ceremony as it was that time he had just lost his mum. Staff and visitors at the office were delighted to see him and took turns to take pictures with the football icon. Here are pictures taken during the visit.
