The Chairman, Iru-Victoria Island LCDA, Princess Rasheedat Abiodun Adu recently added another feather to her cap as she bagged the Grand Matron of Humanity Ambassadors Award.

The award was presented to Adu in her office on April 5, by the Kuramo Senior Secondary School, Humanity Department, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

A representative of the school, Mrs Bolanle Aminat Ajao, stated that the school management considered it worthwhile to give the prestigious award to a woman of virtue, taking into consideration her supportive and unique roles in the area of education. She said the department was established to groom and inculcate values in students using strategic means such as music, media, and theatre, among others.

With the appointment of Adu as the grand matron, it is believed that both teachers and students would exhibit  positive behaviours in tandem with societal norms.

The council boss, while appreciating the recognition, said it was because she has passion for education.

“I believe education is a passport to the future, for tomorrow education belongs to the people who prepare for it today,” she said.

Adu enjoined teachers not to relent in counseling students against social vices as the country is undergoing a serious image crisis. She advised that all programmes should be geared towards moulding students’ behaviours in positive and acceptable societal standards, which will engender peace and harmony.

In attendance at the event were a teacher from Kuramo Senior school, Mrs Aminat Hassan and management members led by the Council Manager, Mr Olanrewaju Fatai.
